The decline in freight volumes and rates has forced shipping companies to continue cutting capacity across the Pacific. In September, Matson announced the end of its China-California Express Line (CCX).
It is reported that CMA CMA CMA will also close its US-West direct "Golden Gate Bridge" (GGB) service, the last voyage has left Shanghai on September 12, and is expected to return to Shanghai on November 5.
The calling order of the cancelled GBB routes is: Kaohsiung - Shekou - Shanghai - Oakland - Seattle - Kaohsiung
At the same time, CMA's direct EXX route to the West will be added to the Port of Oakland. The changed route is: Yantian - Ningbo - Shanghai - Los Angeles - Oakland - Honolulu - Yantian
CMA launched the GGB service on the US-West route in January 2021 to improve service quality and avoid congestion, etc., with direct service from China to Auckland. Use a fleet of multiple 5,000-11,000TEU container ships.
Currently, CMA CGM MEDEA, a 9,415TEU vessel, is performing its final voyage for the service, having left Shanghai on September 12, and the cycle is expected to end in Shanghai on November 5.
