Fuel prices are rising in Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein and surcharges will now need to be increased, the company said. This will come into effect on December 1, 2022.
The increased surcharge will apply to Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein by:

Barge/barge combined intermodal transport: 16% higher than inland standard rates.
* For FMC, in accordance with FMC regulations, the surcharge will be applied from December 4, 2022.
Note: FMC controlled trade refers to goods entering or leaving ports in the United States, Guam, the United States Virgin Islands, American Samoa or Puerto Rico (United States).
Maersk said it would continue to assess the situation and make adjustments to the surcharge based on market conditions. When energy prices return to previous levels, the surcharge will be removed.
The surcharge code will appear on the invoice as "EEE" (Emergency Inland Energy Surcharge export) and "EEI" (Emergency Internal Energy Surcharge import).
